What are dental implants?
Dental implants are the anchoring devices (artificial root replacement) for a natural-looking replacement of missing teeth.

How do implants work?
Specifically, implants are composed of two key elements-the anchoring root device and a prosthetic appliance (artificial teeth.)  Together, these components create a permanent replacement for missing teeth.  Implants can support a fixed replacement (bridge), eliminating the need for removable partials.  They also support removable replacements (denture), making them more secure and comfortable.
1. Evaluation:

-A review of your dental and medical history is evaluated in detail
-If natural teeth are present, a complete periodontal(gum) and occlusal(bite evaluation is also performed.
-X-ray and possible Cat Scan evaluations are used to precisely determine the anatomic structures and degree of bone loss.
-Our office consults with your restorative dentist to develop a treatment plan created to meet your specific needs and desires.

2. Placement of implants:

-The implants are placed in our office, numbing the area, and usually takes 1-2 hours.
-Implants require 3-4 months for the bone to integrate to the implant.
-If needed, you will be fitted for temporary tooth replacement.

3. Restorative phase:

-Four months later, the implant is uncovered and your restorative dentist will begin the restorative process.
-Custom teeth, designed for your mouth and bite, are attached to the implants.
-Bite and appearance are adjusted to your desires.
-After treatment, our office will work closely with you and your dentist to develop the best long-term care for you.
